چکیده

Aldicarb residues in soil, cottonseed, and cotton lint following an in-furrow soil application of 15 lb/acre of a 10% granular formulation of the insecticide on the Texas High Plains were investigated by a gas chromatographic-flame photometric detection procedure. Aldicarb residues (as the sulfone) as high as 1.65 ppm (average of three laboratoyies) were detected in soil from dryland fields 3 (days following application, decreasing to 0.24 ppni in 1 month and completely disappearing in 4 months. Residues in soil from irrigated

Management of Meloidogyne incognita with Chemicals and Cultivars in Cotton in a Semi-Arid Environment.

Management of Meloidogyne incognita (root-knot nematode) in cotton in the United States was substantially affected by the decision to stop production of aldicarb by its principle manufacturer in 2011. The remaining commercially available tools to manage M. incognita included soil fumigation, nematicide seed treatments, postemergence nematicide application, and cultivars partially resistant to M...

Responses of Cotton Yield and Meloidogyne incognita Soil Populations to Soil Applications of Aldicarb and 1,3-D in Florida.

In four tests conducted in loamy-sand soils in northern Florida, cotton lint yield increased and post-harvest soil populations of Meloidogyne incognita were more effectively suppressed by 1,3-dichloropropene (1,3-D) than aldicarb when both nematicides were evaluated over a range of recommended rates. Significant positive relationships existed between lint yield and rates of 1,3-D in three tests...

Cotton water-deficit stress, age, and cultivars as moderating factors of cotton fleahopper abundance and yield loss

Field experiments were conducted in 2012 and 2013 during drought conditions in South Texas and the Texas High Plains to test whether cotton water-deficit stress, age, and cultivars are moderating and interacting factors that affect cotton fleahopper, Pseudatomoscelis seriatus (Reuter) (Hemiptera: Miridae), abundance and yield loss. Irrigation and sequential plantings of several cultivars were u...

Soil strength, cotton root growth and lint yield in a southeastern USA coastal loamy sand

Inverse linear relationships between soil strength and yield in Coastal Plain soils that have subsurface genetic hard layers have previously been developed for corn (Zea mays L.), soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.), and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grown under management systems that include annual or biannual non-inversion deep tillage. In a field study in the southeastern Coastal Plains of the US...
